Better than Great Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

- 1 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 cup dark brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1/2 cup cocoa shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vanilla shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 tablespoon baking soda shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 2 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup boiling water shopping list
- Frosting: shopping list
- 1/2 pound powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 stick butter shopping list
- 2 tablespoons cocoa shopping list
- 2 teaspoons vanilla shopping list
- 1-1/2 tablespoons milk shopping list
How to make it
- Beat butter and sugar until creamy then add eggs, vanilla, salt and cocoa.
- Mix baking soda in buttermilk until it starts to fizz then pour buttermilk into batter.
- Stop mixer and add flour then mix until smooth about 3 minutes.
- Add boiling water and mix then pour batter into rectangular cake pan.
- Bake at 375 for 30 minutes then cool completely before frosting.
- Combine all frosting ingredients in bowl of electric mixer and beat 2 minutes.
- Cool cake completely then spread frosting over tops and sides of cake.
