How to make it

  • Mix together ground beef, egg, Italian bread crumbs, garlic powder and pepper
  • form into 4 thin patties and dredge in 2 tbsp. flour
  • heat small amount of oil in pan and fry patties until brown, turn to brown other side
  • remove patties from pan and set aside
  • add mushrooms to pan adding a little more oil if necessary and cook for about 5 minutes
  • add onions and fry until onions are limp
  • mix together water, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce and beef extract
  • add 1/4 cup of flour to pan and stir to mix well, stir in water mixture and bring to a boil stirring constantly until mixture thickens, reduce heat
  • return patties to pan and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until beef is no longer pink
  • serve with mashed potatoes or scalloped potatoes and desired vegetable
