Salisbury Steak

- oil for cooking shopping list
- 1 lb lean ground beef shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/4 cup Italian bread crumbs shopping list
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp black pepper shopping list
- 2 Tbs flour shopping list
- 1 onion, sliced shopping list
- 1/4 lb mushroom, sliced shopping list
- 1/4 cup flour shopping list
- 1½ cup water shopping list
- 1/4 cup ketchup shopping list
- 1 Tbs worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 Tbs Bovril beef extract shopping list
How to make it
- Mix together ground beef, egg, Italian bread crumbs, garlic powder and pepper
- form into 4 thin patties and dredge in 2 tbsp. flour
- heat small amount of oil in pan and fry patties until brown, turn to brown other side
- remove patties from pan and set aside
- add mushrooms to pan adding a little more oil if necessary and cook for about 5 minutes
- add onions and fry until onions are limp
- mix together water, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce and beef extract
- add 1/4 cup of flour to pan and stir to mix well, stir in water mixture and bring to a boil stirring constantly until mixture thickens, reduce heat
- return patties to pan and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until beef is no longer pink
- serve with mashed potatoes or scalloped potatoes and desired vegetable
