MEXICAN FIESTA CASSEROLE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Brunson Estate in Athens, Texas in 1980.

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground sirloin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 2/3 cup salad dressing
  • 3/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 medium white onion diced
  • 2 cups baking mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 small can chopped green chilies

Directions
  1. Brown meat slightly then add garlic, onion salt, chili powder, oregano and cinnamon.
  2. Cook until meat is browned then drain well.
  3. Slice tomatoes then mix salad dressing, cheese, sour cream and onion and set aside.
  4. Combine baking mix and water and pat into bottom of well greased baking dish.
  5. Add meat, tomato slices and green chilies then top with sour cream mixture.
  6. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
