ZWETSCHGENDATSCHI This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Miller Estate in Dallas, Texas in 1990.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 pound unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1-3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups Italian plums
  • Topping:
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions
  1. In large bowl cream butter, sugar, salt, vanilla, egg and sour cream.
  2. Mix flour and baking powder and add to butter mixture.
  3. Pit plums splitting into halves or thirds then grease pan and spread the dough.
  4. Liberally spread plums over dough meat side up.
  5. If plums are sour as opposed to just tart sprinkle lightly with sugar.
  6. To make topping cream butter then add flour, sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Sprinkle over plums then bake 45 minutes in middle rack at 375.
  8. Be careful not to let the bottom burn.
  9. Serve liberally topped with freshly made whipping cream.
