How to make it

  • Combine sugar, flour, butter and lard and with your figures work mixture into fine crumbs.
  • Set aside 1/4 cup for top crumbs.
  • To the remainder of crumbs add baking powder, beaten egg, milk, salt and lemon juice.
  • Mix well and turn into unbaked pastry shell then top with reserved crumbs.
  • Bake for 35 minutes at 375.
