Holiday Fruit Nut Logs Recipe

Holiday Fruit Nut Logs Recipe
This is my Grandma's Blue Ribbon recipe. She's won state and county fair contests. You can actually buy a bunch of candied cherries and freeze them, to make this treat all year long. Just defrost before use.

Ingredients
  • 1 box Nabisco Nilla Wafers (only kind I use), crushed
  • 8 oz. Green Candied Cherries, coursely chopped
  • 8 oz. Red Candied Cherries, coursely chopped
  • 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1/4 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Pecans, coursely chopped

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place crushed Nilla wafers, green and red cherries, sweetened condensed milk and 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Using hands, combine all ingredients well.
  4. Wash hands in cold water, while hands are still wet pull out about 1 cup of cookie mix.
  5. Roll in coursely chopped pecans, and shape into logs.
  6. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  7. Wash hands again, and while hands are wet make another log, and continue this process until all mixture is used.
  8. You should end up with about 5 logs.
  9. Bake logs for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven, or until moderate brown, but not burnt!
  10. Cool on cookie sheet for 2 minutes, then carefully transfer to cooling rack. Cool completely until firm and set.
  11. Store wrapped in plastic in fridge.
