Ingredients
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1 + 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 6 oz. mini chocolate bits

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix shortening, peanut butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add baking powder to flour and sift.
  4. With mixer running, mix flour mixture into batter two or three spoonfuls at a time until it is all added.
  5. Mix in chocolate bits.
  6. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. This will actually under-cook them a little bit, resulting in a very soft and chewy brownie. Cook an additional 5 minutes for a "cakier" brownie.
  8. Brownies are best stored in the fridge, especially if you opt for the shorter baking time.
