I made a pecan pie one day and decided it needed something. Bittersweet chocolate was the perfect ingredient.

Ingredients
  • 1 unbaked 9" deep dish pie shell
  • 1 cup corn syrup-light or dark
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecans- halves or very roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips-or to taste

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine corn syrup, sugar, eggs, butter, and vanilla. Mix well.
  3. Stir in pecans and chocolate.
  4. Pour mixture into pie shell.
  5. Place pie on cookie sheet and bake on center rack for 1 hour or until set.
  6. Cool completely.
  7. Suggestion:
  8. Spread caramel ice cream topping over cooled pie for a turtle pecan pie.
