Chocolate Snowballs This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Brooks Estate in Dallas, Texas in 1988.

Ingredients
  • 1-1/4 cups butter
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Directions
  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy then stir in vanilla.
  2. Sift flour, salt and cocoa then stir into creamed mixture then stir in nuts until well combined.
  3. Cover and chill 2 hours then preheat oven to 350.
  4. Roll chilled dough into 1” balls then place on cookie sheet 2” apart.
  5. Bake 20 minutes then roll in powdered sugar when cooled.

Yum. This reminds me of russian tea cakes, but with cocoa instead. I love chocolate....I will try this!
