How to make it

  • Heat 1 cup of oil in a wok and fry chicken till golden on medium to high heat. remove it on kitchen paper.
  • In the same wok, heat 1/4 cup of oil, fry 2/3rd of the onions till soft, add ginger and garlic. fry till golden.
  • Add 2/3rd of the tomatoes, add 2 tbsp of water, all of the spices (whole and ground) and cook till tomatoes are very soft (about 8 minutes).
  • Add the chicken, and yogurt and cook till liquid from yogurt almost evaporates about 7-8 mins.
  • Add remaining onions, tomatoes and half of the green chillies. cover and cook on low flame till chicken is completely cooked through and onions and tomatoes are soft.(about 15 mins)
  • Increase the heat to medium high, cook the chicken till oil comes to the surface, about 8-10 mins. Sprinkle lemon juice and mix well.
  • Garnish with cilantro, mint leaves and sprinkle garam masala on top.
  • serve Hot with pita bread or naans.
