Cupid Cookies

- 1c flour shopping list
- 1 pkg.(161/2oz) sugar-cookie dough shopping list
- 1/2 recipe Royal icing shopping list
- red food coloring shopping list
- crystal sugar shopping list
- Royal Icing: shopping list
- 1 box confectonerssugar shopping list
- 5Tbs powdered egg whites or meringue powder shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 350. On a clean surface,knead flour into dough. On floured surface,roll dough to 1/4'" thickness. Cut out heart-shaped cookies,place on baking sheet and bake till lightly browned,9-11 mins. Cool on baking sheet5 mins then transfer to rack to fully cool.
- Re-roll scraps,cut and bake more cookies.
- Divide icing between 4 bowls Tint pale pink,med. pink,dark pink and white. thin icing with 3 to 4 tsp. water per bowl until consistency of heavy cream.
- Using back of small spoon,spread one color icing over half a heart. Spread different color over other side. Using toothpick,drag the icing back and forth over the middle line to swirl colors together. Sprinkle crystal sugar on edge of some cookies. Repeat with remaining cookies and icing. To create polka dots,dip toothpick in icing and place drops on iced cookies
- Royal Icing: Mix sugar meringue powder and 1/3c water on low-speed to soft peaks,scraping sides of bowl,about 10 mins. If frosting is too thick,add additional water,1tsp at a time,for an easy to spread consistency.( If not using right away,store airtight at room temperature up to 3 days;stir before using)
