Ingredients
  • 2 cans chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drain but retain juice
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste, not sesame oil)
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Directions
  1. Put all of the above ingredients except the juice from the chickpeas into a blender. Begin blending.
  2. You'll need to blend, then use a spoon to mix, then blend again. The hummus will be too thick to blend without help.
  3. You can slowly add some of the juice from the chickpeas to the mixture to thin it out, but you don't want the hummus to be runny.
  4. You can also adjust the other seasonings to taste. (I usually end up adding a bit more of each to give it more flavor.)
  5. This will last about two weeks in the refrigerator.
