Paneer Sweet and Sour combines the sweet and sour flavor of Indian-Chinese cooking with soft paneer popularly known as Cottage cheese. This paneer recipe can be easily cooked at home and taste as delicious as it does in the restaurant

Ingredients
  • 150 gms paneer (COTTAGE CHEESE) cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup tomato juice
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp jaggery
  • A pinch ajinomoto salt (China Salt)
  • 2 and a 1/2 tbsp cornflour
  • Oil as per requirement
  • 1 tbsp ginger and garlic paste
  • 1 large capsicum cut into wide strips
  • 2 medium carrots cut into 1″ sticks
  • 50 grams cabbage cut into pieces
  • 50 grams cauliflower cut into 2″ pieces
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh, or canned)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 tbsp Soya sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Directions
  1. Mix orange, apple, and lemon juices, sugar and cornflour in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Take a non-stick pan, shallow fry the paneer cubes in a little oil until golden brown, and keep aside.
  3. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a large non stick pan over medium heat, add ginger garlic paste and a pinch of ajinomoto salt and fry for about 15-20 seconds.
  4. Now add the vegetables and stir fry for 3-4 minutes
  5. Add water, Soya sauce, salt, pepper, and pineapple chunks, if fresh.
  6. Cover and simmer until the vegetables are slightly tender.
  7. Stir in fried paneer cubes and juice mixture.
  8. Stirring gently, cook until the sauce thickens, for about 3 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat, stir in oil, and serve immediately
  10. (You can add cooked vegetables, as you wish)

This is intriguing! Am trying to learn Indian foods--Paneer = cottage cheese. Is it also tofu? Tofu could be cubed, but "cottage cheese (in the usa)is almost the texture of yogurt, with curds which give the food texture).

Ajinomoto/China salt--what is it like? thank you.
