How to make it

  • Catch the groundhog.
  • Dress it and soak in salted water for 12 hours,depending on size and age of said groundhog.
  • Pour off water and parboil in salted water for 3/4 of an hour.
  • Prepare the dressing and stuff groundhog.
  • Sew up cavity and place in baking pan with just a little water.
  • Place in oven for 20 minutes.
  • Pour off liquid and reserve it for later use.
  • Lay partially boiled sweet potatoes around groundhog.
  • Place bacon strips across groundhog and potatoes.
  • Pour reserved liquid over all and let bake for 1 hour,basting frequently.
  • Note: I am just kidding Punxsutawney Phil!
