- 1 cup rice flour (mochiko) shopping list
- 3/4 cup warm water shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce shopping list
- 1 1/2 tablespoons corn starch + 1 1/2 tablespoons water shopping list
- Optional: food coloring shopping list
How to make it
- Put rice flour in bowl and add warm water.
- Knead the dough well, adding flour or water as needed to form a soft dough.
- Optional: Split the dough into 3 parts and color one pink, one green and leave the third plain.
- Form balls from dough, usually smaller then ping pong balls.
- Place the dumplings in a steamer and steam on high heat for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and cool dumplings.
- When the dumplings have cooled, place them on bamboo skewers (3-4 per stick)
- Mix water, sugar and soy sauce in a pan over medium heat.
- When the sauce boils, add the starch mixture and mix quickly.
- Slightly grill the skewered dumplings and brush the sauce over them.
