How to make it

  • Put rice flour in bowl and add warm water.
  • Knead the dough well, adding flour or water as needed to form a soft dough.
  • Optional: Split the dough into 3 parts and color one pink, one green and leave the third plain.
  • Form balls from dough, usually smaller then ping pong balls.
  • Place the dumplings in a steamer and steam on high heat for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and cool dumplings.
  • When the dumplings have cooled, place them on bamboo skewers (3-4 per stick)
  • Mix water, sugar and soy sauce in a pan over medium heat.
  • When the sauce boils, add the starch mixture and mix quickly.
  • Slightly grill the skewered dumplings and brush the sauce over them.
