Glazed Onions With Bacon Recipe
GLAZED ONIONS WITH BACON This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Fargo Estate in Denton, Texas in 1986.

Ingredients
  • 2 slices bacon trimmed of excess fat
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 3 medium sweet onions peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Directions
  1. Cut bacon into 1/2" wide pieces.
  2. In a large skillet cook bacon over medium heat until crisp.
  3. Remove from pan and drain on paper towels then pour off the excess fat.
  4. Pour olive oil into pan then sauté onions over medium low heat for 10 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper then turn heat to medium and stir in brown sugar and vinegar.
  6. Continue cooking 8 minutes then stir bacon into onions and continue cooking 2 minutes.
