Hummus Bi Taheeni

- 4 c. garbanzo beans, drained shopping list
- 1/2 c. tahini (sesame paste avaliable in foreign food sections of most grocery stores) shopping list
- 1/3 c. warm water shopping list
- 1/3 c. olive oil shopping list
- juice of 2 to 3 lemons shopping list
- 4 garlic cloves shopping list
- 1 1/2 t. salt shopping list
- 2 t. ground cumin shopping list
- pepper, to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Blend first 5 ingredients in processor until creamy.
- Add remaining ingredients and adjust seasoning
- Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Serves with veggies or pita bread, plain or toasted.
- VARIATION: we also like to add different tastes into the hummus such as roasted garlic, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, chopped black olive or chopped roasted red peppers. Also, you can use peanut butter instead of tahini.
