How to make it

  • Adjust rack to lowest setting in oven then preheat oven to 350.
  • Combine flour and sugar then stir until well blended.
  • Add butter and rub it together with your fingertips until mixture becomes crumb like.
  • Add egg and using a fork mix it into the dough.
  • Using your hands press dough evenly into a tart pan with a removable rim then set aside.
  • Combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a bowl then stir until well blended then stir in nuts.
  • Place chocolate in the upper portion of a double boiler over barely simmering water.
  • As the chocolate begins to melt which will be very quickly stir it.
  • Once melted remove and set aside to cool slightly before adding it to the filling mixture.
  • Spoon filling into the tart pan then bake on lowest rack for 20 minutes.
  • Remove pan to a rack to cool then remove pan rim and cut into wedges.
