CHOCOLATE WALNUT TART This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Conan Estate in Seagoville, Texas in 1992.

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • Filling:
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2-1/2 cups walnut pieces toasted
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate

Directions
  1. Adjust rack to lowest setting in oven then preheat oven to 350.
  2. Combine flour and sugar then stir until well blended.
  3. Add butter and rub it together with your fingertips until mixture becomes crumb like.
  4. Add egg and using a fork mix it into the dough.
  5. Using your hands press dough evenly into a tart pan with a removable rim then set aside.
  6. Combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a bowl then stir until well blended then stir in nuts.
  7. Place chocolate in the upper portion of a double boiler over barely simmering water.
  8. As the chocolate begins to melt which will be very quickly stir it.
  9. Once melted remove and set aside to cool slightly before adding it to the filling mixture.
  10. Spoon filling into the tart pan then bake on lowest rack for 20 minutes.
  11. Remove pan to a rack to cool then remove pan rim and cut into wedges.
