Apple Raisin Dumplings With Apple Syrup

- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup cold stick butter cut into pieces shopping list
- 2/3 cup cold milk shopping list
- Filling: shopping list
- 2 medium apples cored peeled and cut into 1/2" cubes shopping list
- 1/3 cup golden raisins shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- Syrup: shopping list
- 6 tablespoons packed light brown sugar shopping list
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch shopping list
- 1 cup apple cider concentrate shopping list
How to make it
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl.
- Cut in butter until coarse crumbs are formed.
- Stir in milk with a fork using 1/2 cup to start and only adding more if dough is dry.
- Gather dough into a ball and gently knead 8 times then wrap in waxed paper.
- Refrigerate up to 30 minutes for ease in handling.
- Roll dough on lightly floured surface to form a rectangle.
- Cut dough lengthwise in half then cut crosswise into thirds to form 5" squares.
- For filling combine all ingredients.
- Spoon 1/3 cup apple mixture onto center of each square.
- Bring corners of dough to center then squeeze all seams tightly to seal.
- Place dumplings on baking sheet and bake in preheated 400 oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove to wire rack to cool slightly.
- Combine brown sugar and cornstarch in small saucepan.
- Gradually stir in apple concentrate then heat to boiling stirring frequently.
- Boil and stir 1 minute or until thickened.
- Spoon syrup over each warm dumpling.
