Basil Scalloped Potatoes

- 2 cloves garlic minced shopping list
- 3/4 cup milk divided shopping list
- 1 tablespoon all purpose flour shopping list
- 3/4 cup evaporated milk shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper shopping list
- 4 cups baking potato peeled and thinly sliced shopping list
- 1/2 cup gruyere cheese shredded shopping list
- 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese freshly grated shopping list
How to make it
- Coat a large saucepan with cooking spray then place over medium high heat until hot.
- Add garlic and sauté until tender.
- Combine 1/4 cup milk and flour then stir with a wire whisk until smooth.
- Add flour mixture to garlic then cook stirring constantly 1 minute or until mixture thickens.
- Gradually add remaining milk, evaporated milk and next 4 ingredients.
- Bring to a boil stirring constantly then add potato.
- Spoon half of mixture into baking dish coated with cooking spray.
- Top with half of Gruyere cheese then repeat layers and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
- Cover and bake at 350 for 30 minutes then uncover and bake 15 minutes longer.
- Allow to stand 10 minutes before serving.
