Sausage And Apple Plait

- FOR THE PASTRY shopping list
- 240g - 8,40z cake flour shopping list
- 2ml salt - nice big pinch shopping list
- 125g butter - 4.4oz shopping list
- 100ml sour cream - 3 1/2 fluid ounces shopping list
- FOR THE FILLING shopping list
- 30ml-6tsp prepared mustard shopping list
- 250g-1/2 lb peeled and cored and roughly chopped shopping list
- 1 onion chopped shopping list
- salt and fresh ground pepper shopping list
- 1tbls fresh sage or 1tsp dried shopping list
- 8 beef and pork sausages cooked and sliced shopping list
- 1 egg beaten shopping list
How to make it
- Sift flour and salt
- cut in butter till mix resembles fine breadcrumbs
- add sour cream and mix to a soft dough
- wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for an hour
- roll pastry into a thin rectangle
- spread mustard all over it leaving 25mm, 1/4 inch around the edges
- arrange apple, onion and seasoning in a narrow strip down centre of pastry
- arrange sliced sausages on top
- brush edges of pastry with beaten egg
- make diagonal cuts into the pastry either side of the filling
- fold the top edge over the filling
- then "plait" the strips of pastry over the filling tucking in the bottom edge
- place Plait on a greased and floured baking sheet
- brush with beaten egg
- bake for 30-35min in a preheated oven at 200C, 400F or gas 6
