Ingredients

How to make it

  • Sift flour and salt
  • cut in butter till mix resembles fine breadcrumbs
  • add sour cream and mix to a soft dough
  • wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for an hour
  • roll pastry into a thin rectangle
  • spread mustard all over it leaving 25mm, 1/4 inch around the edges
  • arrange apple, onion and seasoning in a narrow strip down centre of pastry
  • arrange sliced sausages on top
  • brush edges of pastry with beaten egg
  • make diagonal cuts into the pastry either side of the filling
  • fold the top edge over the filling
  • then "plait" the strips of pastry over the filling tucking in the bottom edge
  • place Plait on a greased and floured baking sheet
  • brush with beaten egg
  • bake for 30-35min in a preheated oven at 200C, 400F or gas 6
