Ingredients
  • 1 large onion; minced
  • 14 oz ground veal
  • 9 oz ground lamb
  • 3 garlic cloves; minced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon minced dry parsley
  • salt and pepper; to taste
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon minced dry oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 cup stale breadcrumbs; dip in red wine & squeeze
  • 2 eggs
  • ----- SAUCE -----
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons red wine

Directions
  1. Add the first 13 ingredients to a bowl and knead well.
  2. Its recommended that you leave the meat overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. Combine the tomato sauce, water, sugar and wine.
  4. Add half the prepared tomato sauce into a Pyrex baking dish.
  5. Form the meat into football shapes or fat cigars and arrange over the tomato sauce.
  6. Pour remaining sauce over the meatballs.
  7. Cook in a preheated 375°F oven for 40 minutes.
  8. Note: you can use matzoh meal instead of stale breadcrumbs.
