Yummasetti Recipe
This hot dish layers spaghetti, cheese and hamburger and was popular among the Amish. Recipe from Susan Beachy of Iowa, via Susan Puckett's A Cooks Tour of Iowa 1988 and also found in The American Ethnic Cookbook for Students, by Mark Zanger

Ingredients
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 1 pint peas or one pound frozen peas
  • 2 -10 3/4 oz cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1- 10 3/4 oz can cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 loaf bread
  • Equipment: Bake in turkey roaster--this is a large recipe

Directions
  1. Cook spaghetti according to package. Drain.
  2. Butter bread lightly, reserving 2 Tbsp butter.
  3. Toast bread on wire oven racks.
  4. Halve, peel and chop onion.
  5. Heat 2 Tablespoons butter in large skillet; add chopped onion, saute slowly until soft.
  6. Let toast cool, break into crumbs.
  7. Add ground beef to skillet, break it up. Cook til no longer pink.
  8. Drain off excess fat.
  9. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  10. Mix all ingredients except toast crumbs in large bowl.
  11. Pour mixture into very large casserole or turkey roaster, and top with bread crumbs.
  12. Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 45 minutes.
