Pineapple Orange Angel Food Cake Recipe

Pineapple Orange Angel Food Cake Recipe
depending on which "lite" ingredients you use this can be as low sugar and low fat as you want it to be. I've seen this recipe using strawberries instead of oranges...yucko. It's probably just me, but I hate it with strawberries. Love it... More

Ingredients
  • 1 prepared round angel food cake ( I sometimes use the smaller "no sugar added" ones)
  • 20 oz can crushed pineapple with liquid
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding (i use the 1 oz size of fat free sugar free)
  • 2 small cans or 1 regular one of mandarin oranges, well drained
  • 8 oz container of cool whip lite, thawed
  • 1 small can of drained oranges for garnish on top if desired

Directions
  1. cut cake into 3 layers.
  2. Mix the pineapple and pudding mix until well blended.
  3. Add the oranges to the pudding mix, mixing well. The oranges will look like the pineapple pieces once mixed up.
  4. Fold in the cool whip. At this point I sometimes put this mix in the fridge to get stiffer but it's not needed.
  5. Frost layers, sides, and top of cake with this mixture.
  6. Add orange pieces to the top if desired for "flair".
  7. Let chill for a couple of hours.
  8. Eat
