Overnight Beer Infused French Toast

- 1 (1-pound) french baguette shopping list
- 8 eggs shopping list
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 6 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1 cup beer, preferably dark shopping list
- coarse salt shopping list
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter shopping list
- butter for serving shopping list
- maple syrup for serving shopping list
How to make it
- Cut the bread diagonally into 3/4-inch-thick slices and place in one or more dishes large enough to hold the slices in a single layer.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla, milk, beer and a pinch of salt.
- Pour over the bread slices, turning to soak both sides.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or at least 1 hour.
- Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a very large ovenproof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the soaked bread to brown on one side.
- Turn the bread over and place the skillet in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until the toast is puffed and golden brown on the bottom.
- Do in batches if necessary.
- Serve immediately with additional butter and maple syrup.
