How to make it

  • Take the car keys from all guests!
  • Coat venison in flour
  • Pour olive oil into stock pot cast iron is best
  • Saute garlic
  • Add flour coated venison and brown evenly
  • Add all vegetables
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper
  • Stir well
  • Pour a glass of merlot for your guests and yourself
  • Pour the remaining merlot over venison mixture
  • Turn the heat to medium low and simmer
  • Check occasionally stirring to ensure even cooking
  • If additional liquid is needed add more merlot
  • A second bottle from the larder might be necessary.
  • 2 hours later the sweetest tenderest venison ever imagined will be ready for your table.
  • Serve with homemade herb rolls and naturally blackberry merlot.
