Cheesy Tuna Casserole

- 2 (12 OZ) CANS CREAM OF mushroom shopping list
- 11/4 CUP milk OR HALF & HALF. shopping list
- 1/2 CUP mayonnaise shopping list
- 2 TBS butter shopping list
- 2 CUPS CUBED Velveeta cheese shopping list
- 1/2 CUP CHOPPED onion, MORE OR LESS shopping list
- 3/4 CUP frozen peas shopping list
- 1/2 TSP kosher salt shopping list
- 1/4 TSP pepper shopping list
- 1/2 TSP Hungarian paprika, + YOUR CHOICE spices, herbs shopping list
- 2 - 6 OZ CANS SOLID tuna in water (DRAINED) shopping list
- 1 CUP CRUSHED saltine crackers shopping list
- 1/2 CUP MELTED butter shopping list
- 21/4 CUPS COOKED MINI penne pasta (COOK AS DIRECTED) shopping list
How to make it
- HEAT OVEN TO 375 DEGREES
- THE SAUCE:
- IN A SAUCE PAN COMBINE, CREAM OF MUSHROOM, MILK, BUTTER, VELVEETA, CHOPPED ONION, SPICES, AND FROZEN PEAS.
- STIR OVER MEDIUM /LOW HEAT UNTIL THE CHEESE IS COMPLETELY MELTED.
- IN A BOWL COMBINE TUNA, MAYONNAISE, COOKED PASTA AND ONLY 1/2 OF THE SAUCE.
- SET THE REMAINING 1/2 SAUCE ASIDE COVERED..
- PUT THE TUNA CASSEROLE MIXTURE IN A GREASED 9X13 BAKING DISH.
- THE TOPPING:
- COMBINE THE CRUSHED SALTINE CRACKERS AND THE MELTED BUTTER TOGETHER IN A BOWL AND SPRINKLE IT EVENLY OVER THE CASSEROLE.
- BAKE UNCOVERED 20 - 25 MINUTES, OR UNTIL THE CRACKER TOPPING TURNS A LIGHT TOASTY BROWN.
- RE-HEAT THE EXTRA SAUCE & SERVE IT IN A GRAVY BOWL.
- POUR THE SAUCE EQUALLY OVER EACH INDIVIDUAL SERVING.
- SERVED WITH A NICE GREEN SALAD & CHEESE OR GARLIC TOAST MAKES A NICE COMFORT FOOD MEAL.
