Beef With Honeydew Melon Recipe
BEEF WITH HONEYDEW MELON This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Kinder Estate in Dallas, Texas in 1991.

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 pound sirloin cubed
  • 1/2 onion white onion thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3 cups honeydew melon cubed

Directions
  1. In large skillet heat oil over medium high heat.
  2. Brown beef stirring until lightly browned.
  3. Stir in sliced onion, garlic and ginger then stir and cook 3 minutes.
  4. Mix soy sauce, dry sherry, vinegar and cornstarch then add to skillet.
  5. Cook and stir until sauce thickens then stir in honeydew and heat through.

I never thought of cooking honeydew. The flavor combination sounds great. Does the honeydew disappear into the sauce or is it still recognizable?
