Sweet And Sour Slow Cooker Flank Steak Recipe
SWEET AND SOUR SLOW COOKER FLANK STEAK This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Brink Estate in Big Spring, Texas in 1982.

Ingredients
  • 2 large garlic cloves minced
  • 9 ounces frozen chopped onions
  • 16 ounces canned mushrooms sliced and well drained
  • 24 ounces chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons canned tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon unpacked brown sugar
  • 3 pounds raw lean flank steak cut into six equal pieces

Directions
  1. Stir garlic, onion, mushrooms, sauce, broth, paste, wine, salt, paprika, pepper, vinegar and sugar.
  2. Place steak in slow cooker and pour garlic mixture over top then stir briefly.
  3. Cover cooker and cook on high 4 hours then remove steak and let sit 2 minutes.
  4. Slice against the grain then arrange steak on a platter and spoon vegetables and gravy on top.
