From artisticblur 16 years agoIngredients
- 2 Cups cooked rice shopping list
- 1 Chopped green pepper shopping list
- 1 Large Chopped spanish onion shopping list
- 4 cloves Chopped garlic shopping list
- 1/2 Cup Chopped okra shopping list
- 2 Stalks Chopped celery shopping list
- 4 Large sliced mushrooms shopping list
- 4 turkey sausages shopping list
- 1 Can diced tomatoes shopping list
- 1 can tomato Paste shopping list
- 1/2 Tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste shopping list
- 2 Tsp hot sauce, or to taste shopping list
- 1 Tsp black pepper shopping list
- Pinch of salt shopping list
- 1 Cup frozen shrimp shopping list
How to make it
- Put rice on the stove or in rice cooker so it can finish by the time you need it. Undercook it just slightly, so it'll use some of the tomato juice to finish.
- Chop all your veggies and garlic and throw them all together in a bowl.
- Cook your sausage (in a big pot) in a bit of oil and cut into bite sized pieces. Add veggie bowl to the pot and cook until onions sweat down & veggie soften.
- Empty the Diced Tomato and Paste into the pot. Stir well. Add seasonings until it's as hot as you like it. Bring to a boil then simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add rice in and stir. Cook until it sucks up most of the moisture and finishes cooking.
- Add shrimp (frozen) and cook for another 4 minutes, or until shrimp turns pink.
- Serve! I ate mine with bread which was nice to clean the plate with as this can be a little sloppy.
