How to make it

  • Put rice on the stove or in rice cooker so it can finish by the time you need it. Undercook it just slightly, so it'll use some of the tomato juice to finish.
  • Chop all your veggies and garlic and throw them all together in a bowl.
  • Cook your sausage (in a big pot) in a bit of oil and cut into bite sized pieces. Add veggie bowl to the pot and cook until onions sweat down & veggie soften.
  • Empty the Diced Tomato and Paste into the pot. Stir well. Add seasonings until it's as hot as you like it. Bring to a boil then simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add rice in and stir. Cook until it sucks up most of the moisture and finishes cooking.
  • Add shrimp (frozen) and cook for another 4 minutes, or until shrimp turns pink.
  • Serve! I ate mine with bread which was nice to clean the plate with as this can be a little sloppy.

Actually Chefjeb, this is jambalaya. Just probably not your type. Jambalaya can be any spicy meat, vegetables and rice. There's Cajun and Creole. I happen to like this recipe, Artisticblur. thank you.

I would think you could name it anything you would want.. It was great.. Had some jamalaya in Louisiana... some was good, some was really yuk! This was very good... It's not the state, its the person making it.

Whoa, Cher, this ain't jambalaya. sorry, but rename this to something else. It may be good, but it's not Louisiana jambalaya. Not even close. And jambalaya isn't sloppy. It's a classic, when done right it needs only a salad and French bread. Good eatin, Cher!
