Pastitsio- Greek Baked Pasta

- olive oil shopping list
- brown onion, chopped shopping list
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped shopping list
- 500g lamb mince shopping list
- 400g can diced tomatoes shopping list
- 1/2 cup white wine shopping list
- 2 tbsp tomato paste shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 250g dried macaroni pasta shopping list
- 80g butter shopping list
- 1/3 cup plain flour shopping list
- 2 1/4 cups skim milk shopping list
- 2/3 cup tasty cheese, grated shopping list
- 1 egg, lightly beaten shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil over medium heat in frying pan. Add onion and garlic and cook til soft.
- Add mince and cook, stirring often for 5 mins til browned.
- Stir tomato, wine, tomato paste, oregano and cinnamon into mince mixture.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to boil and reduce heat. Simmer 25 mins or until thick. Cool.
- Meanwhile, cook pasta in boiling salted water. Drain and return to pan. Stir meat sauce into pasta.
- Preheat oven to 180degC. Grease 8 cup capacity lasagna dish.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, add flour and stir til bubbling
- Remove from heat and slowly add milk, stirring til smooth.Return to heat and stir constantly, until mixture comes to the boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 2 mins or until thickened. Add cheese and stir til melted.
- Cool for 10mins. Stir egg into sauce.
- Spoon meat and pasta into prepared pan. Pour cheese sauce over and spread evenly.
- bake for 40-45mins or until golden.
- Stand 10 mins before serving.

Yum! One of my favorite dishes. Thank you. I add raisins to the meat mixture, & ground nutmeg to the white sauce.
