We make this recipe also with anchovy or whiting. ..its tradational Turkish blacksea side recipe' we call hamsi tava'but ı made with horse mackerel..

Ingredients
  • 1 lb horse mackerel
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1tea spoon salt
  • ½ cup canola or corn oil

Directions
  1. Cut the heads off gut the horse mackerel and wash with cold water drain .
  2. Put them in a bowl sprinkle the salt and blend.
  3. Pour the oil in to a large skillet and heat it up over high medium heat.
  4. Place the flour in a plate and dip the horse mackerel by holding from its tail.
  5. to remove the excess flour,shake the fish off.
  6. Fry until they turn to a red fried color approximately 4-5 minutes.
  7. turn halfway through..when they are done place the fried horse mackerel on a plate with paper towel
  8. on it to absorb the excess oil in it
  9. serve with sheperd salads also arugula,radish ,onion , lemon ,boiled patato go well with fried horse mackerel
