Ingredients

1 lb dried pinto beans

1/4 lb thick sliced bacon - diced

3-4 cloves garlic - minced

1 med onion - chopped

1 TBS chili powder

Salt to taste

Directions

Rinse and remove any stones from the beans

cover beans with water and bring to a boil (always keep covered with water)over medium heat (low boil)

Add onion garlic and bacon

cook until tender. If you add more water it makes a great bean soup, less water it makes an outstanding side dish.

You shove the kids in the back seat where they can't really see what's going on, on the screen. Feed 'em popcorn then they fall asleep anyway.

Just don't take any of the beans with you as you are confined to a small space. It's okay to bring catfish though.
