  • Boil until dressing is slightly thick. This is an Amish recipe. The farm women made it to use up any vegetables left in the garden a frost time, so vegetables would vary, as well as quanities.
  • I first made this when I moved to Pennsylvania Dutch country in 1964. The recipe came from a retired farm woman who lived across the road. Not being a farmer, not even having a garden, I bought all the ingredients at the farmer's market. My husband figured the cost and time involved and told me I'd be better off buying a jar at the stand in market.....which is what I have done ever since!
