How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Grease and flour three 9" round cake pans. Set aside.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar. Beat on medium high until creamy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat butter mixture on medium high for 7-10 minutes.
  • Add vanilla and sour cream. Mix well.
  • Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternating with milk. Begin and end with flour. Mix until just combined after each addition.
  • Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
  • Bake for in center of oven for 30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool layers in pan for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire racks.
  • Cool completely then use the frosting of your choice.
