A twist of the traditional deli Ruben. The Smoked brisket gives this a truly great tast. This will go well with a tossed salad.

Ingredients
  • Ingredients:
  • 8 slices Jewish Rye Boule
  • ½ cup Creamy Russian-Style dressing
  • 1 cup Sauerkraut, well drained
  • 4oz Havarti with dill cheese, sliced
  • 12oz Smoked brisket thinly sliced ( Montreal-style )
  • ¾ Tbs. Margarine

Directions
  1. 1)Place the 4 slices of bread on a prepared work surface. Spread 1 Tbs. of the Russian dressing on the bread slices. Place ¼ cup Sauerkraut on each slice on top of dressing.
  2. 2)Divide Havarti with dill and Smoked brisket over the bread slices.
  3. 3)Spread remaining Russian dressing over each of the remaining bread slices. Place on top of the meat and press.
  4. 4)Melt margarine in a large heavy skillet over low heat. Add sandwiches and grill slowly, pressing down with a wide spatula. Grill until the bread is brown and crisp. Using the spatula,turn sandwiches ( add more margarine to pan as need ). Grill, pressing gently until brown and crisp. Remove to cutting board, cut in half and serve immediately.
