Welcome to the Caregiver Group...

Cooking has been a longtime passion of mine, and along with fiber crafts, it has given me a sense of well-being that I don't believe I could've found anywhere else.

I already know of a few folks here who are currently tending to the needs of someone who can't care for themselves. You already own some real estate in my heart and I love you. I hope this offers you a bit of what you might be looking for.

With that being said, let's dig in and enjoy!! I've already primed the pump, so to speak, and have flagged some recipes that I thought would be helpful and ones that inspire me.

    Hey--

Wow...can I ever empathize with the challenges caregivers deal with on a daily basis. I cared for my Mom (with Alzheimer's disease) for nine years until she passed away in July '09. In fact, the cookie blog that I recently started is a compilation of cookie recipes that I created while "tethered" to the house while caring for her. I have some great "quick and easy" recipes that I'd love to share, and even an ice cream recipe that I developed when she began having difficulty swallowing in the end-stages and needed easy to swallow nutrition and calories.

I know what you're going through, and would love to be helpful in any way possible.

My 80 year old Mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January and its been an up hill battle ever since. Thankfully her tumor was treatable with chemo, but the after affects have been daunting. We've had many setbacks but we are still moving forward, so thats a good sign! And her appetite has improved so much since her treatment!

My Mom has been enjoying many recipes I've made for her from cooking websites, this past year! Its been so much fun cooking for her since I've been caring for her! She was always there for me, so now its my turn to be there for her! I intended to be there for as long as it takes! She's the best Mom...we all call her a Saint! Always puts her children first and has an endless amount of patience!

Thank you so much Connie, for inviting me to your group! =)
