some things dogs shouldn't eat

  • jade2011 17 years ago
Onions in any way shape or form,no more than a pinch of garlic. No chocolate at all. No high fat foods. No spicy foods or hot.I also do not give mine peanut butter as a dog can have or get nut allergies which can be quite severe. Also no corn in any way shape or form. I hope someone finds this helpful:-)

I have a PomChi at home, or a ChiPom; either way you look at it ... a mixture of Chihuahua and Pomeranian and they should not eat raisins or grapes; both cause acute kidney failure in dogs, although the reason is not known.

Chocolate can cause cardivascular difficulties and seizures.

Onioms can induce hemolytic anemia, which in laymans terms means a rare form of anemia in which red blood cells are destroyed and removed from the bloodstream before their usual lifespan is up.

    Be well,

I thought that one of the main ingredients for dog food is cornmeal...? Also, I try to keep salt to a minimum. I have a HUGE Irish Wolfhound. She weighs approx. 170lb. She's on a special diet - her food and everything else she can reach...which includes everything on the kitchen counter.
ebony, I was told by the Vet that grapes are bad for dogs, as well. My dog Loves grapes, carrots and again...anything within her reach. A few months ago, my dog ate a 2lb bar of milk chocolate. I called the Vet and she told me to squirt hydrogen peroxide down her throat....to make her throw up. It worked and I'm Very glad I took her outside before I did it....yuck!

jade, thanks for jumpstarting this group again
