good morning everybody.. how did you all make out on the water drinking???

Is anybody going on or has started the fruit and veggie week???

I did very well on the water drinking

so it's on to the fruit and veggies... I'll be on that one a couple of weeks...
It's not that I don't like them.. it's just I am a grab as I go by foodie and I don't eat much at one time... so it's more of working them into my odd eating pattern or maybe it's making over my style of eating >>>

Okay, I'm managing about 90-120 ounces of liquid a day. At some point, I remember reading for every pound you are over weight you need to add extra water, but I can't remember the formula. It is supposed to help flush out the toxins. I have a 64 ounce mug that I fill when I get to work and I sip it all day long and some days, I nearly drink two before the day is done.

I'm working on adding veggies to the diet and have cut up cucumber slices to nibble on (I don't like carrot or celery sticks) instead of a cracker. Green beans are my new friend and I'm trying different salad combinations using more veggies in the mix. I have redone my mom's nicoise salad and left out the potatoes and just done the tuna and green bean/tomato/lettuce base and it is a good lunch with more veggie power. (better than tuna salad on bread).

It sounds like you are off to a good start NYM.. I

I started to eat more applesauce and a dried mix of raisins, cranberries and cherries with some almonds.. I can just carry that around and nibble on... now I need to work on some veggies... I got some of that V-8 juice with fruit and veggies.. haven't tried it yet

like I said this is going to take me awhile to get up to the right amount of fruits and veggies and then to make it a habit... I'm much better in the summer..

Well, dear I was up two pounds today and I'm going to be cutting the carbs again and going back to my lean protein in little portions. I'm still using a veggie instead of a cracker or bread. I'm just going to tweak what I've been doing to make it work for me.

I'm going to the purchase some light hand weights and start doing some gentle exercises to try and ease the tightness in the arms and shoulders. My range of motion is diminishing greatly and I need to try and get some strength back in my hands. I keep dropping things and I have the hardest time gripping even my water mug.

I'm still doing the water, adding a some ginger slices and a squeeze of lemon lately. It is a little spicy and a great pick-up to sip on at my horrendous job.

Good for you on upping the fruit intake, I know it is hard to change, but they say do for six weeks straight and it will become a habit.

    Toodles, NYM

thanks for the encouragement... I tried the V-8 Infusion today.. not bad... the ginger slices in the water sound good.. will give it a try...

you've done good if you only gained 2 lb. its really hard to lose weight over the holidays and in the winter...

don't over do.. what about those soft squishy things to help with your hands??? I'm sorry I don't know what they are called.. I have one that is in the shape of a little computer.. they are easy to use and don't over tax your hands...

the light weights sound good... even if you start by lifting a can of soup that would get you started.... just start very slowly... and don't do too much... even 1 time the first day and 2 times the second day. then take a day off. then start another 2 days..

let me know how your doing... Peeta

I got a fuzzy little pillow massager from a friend at Christmas, it is so soft and gentle that it doesn't hurt my aches. I still can't grip well but I see the doctor next week and we see what else they will want to adjust.

We're still doing great on the veggies. My daughter has joined the eat more greens with me. She is a good eater, suffers with lots of leg cramps and I think getting her some high potassium fruit and veggies will help with that issue.

great I made a potato leek soup for dinner... lot of onions, leeks, and potatoes. and I did drink that V-8 veggie/fruit juice and I had applesauce... Not so good now that I write it down...

It always helps when you have somebody else doing the plan with you...

you and your daughter are doing great... I hope you have a good visit at the Doctors...

She has been exercising daily and has lost five lbs. since the first. I"m so proud. She is the queen of eating candy, pizza and junk. So, I'm happy to have a buddy with the veggie quotient.

Have you thought of juicing your own veggies? I'm thinking of pulling out the juicer and starting to juice organically grown veggies. I heard that some veggies are natural diuretics. I have to look up and find out which ones.

I've been thinking of buying a juicer... I have a friend who has one and she loves it...
it would be a good way for me to get more veggies and fruits in me... I can take it and off I go..

I picked up a bunch of dried fruit today.. another thing I like and will snack on.. when it's not so cold I'll go over to this great market and get some honey tangerines.. now I need to work on the veggies..

brovo to your daughter for losing 5 lbs.!!!!! and for making some changes in her diet..

my mind is working at the moment ( storm is coming. I get a migraine. I could be a human barometer!! LOL) I'm waiting for the pain meds to kick in.. there are veggies that help with water retention.. and another thing that helps is anything with high potassium.. that helps put the balance back into the sodium/potassium ratio..
the ratio is twice as much potassium to sodium..

Haven't found the juicing detox that I want to help on the water retention yet. But after my sleep study last night, I did get a big thumb's up from the technician for being in better shape from six months ago. I still only sleep about 5 hours a night, but it is a deeper more restorative sleep, so I can get the needed recovery rem time.

    Lose weight with water.
Water is essential for everybody - it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven't been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.

By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.
