    Apple Cheese Tart by Nativeprincess

I have a similar story to Marie in how I first tried this recipe! I've been making it for about 12 years now and I always get requests for the recipe. It's my all time favorite apple dessert, and I'd have it over cheesecake any day!

Some may know this recipe as "Bavarian Apple Torte". I'm not sure of the origins, but I do know Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese has a similar version. Which follows the same amounts and baking instructions to the recipe I have.
The major difference in that recipe is it calls for 4 apples, not one. So I used 4. And only a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon in the topping, not 1 Tablespoon. I think Marie made a typo or mistake, because even 1 tsp might be too strong for a 1/4 cup of sugar.
(And make to sure to use Tart apples if you can, or reduce the sugar in the topping)

I used a 10" spring form pan, which is way too big for this recipe! (my fault) So I didn't get the crust up the sides, and it made the cheese filling much thinner. A 9" tart pan or spring form is best if you want to remove it. But I have made it in a pie pan with good results.

Make sure to chill it for at least 2 hours, but overnight is much better. I tried to shingle the apples but most of the pieces broke from being too thin! Sometimes I just dice all the apples and it looks better! ;)
A dollop of whipped cream is nice on occasion. Or for a sweet tooth in the family, a drizzle of caramel sauce! :)

Another gorgeous photo, Cosmicmother! It looks so good with the apples beautifully arranged. It also looks like a lot of work. Is your family tired of apples yet?

This looks AMAZING Shona, beautiful picture! Lol, I was thinking this would be like a cheddar apple tart or something when I saw "cheese" :P 1 Tbs. of cinnamon is quite a bit, so she must have made a typo. I could totally go for a slice of this right now for a late night snack :) :)

Thanks Diz! It wasn't too much work, but then again I have one of those all-in-one gadgets that peels, cores, and slices the apples for me! ;)
My family is use to apple seasons; here we just have two trees thankfully. But back home we had a small apple orchard. We had so many apples we couldn't give enough away so we baked, juiced, jarred, jellied, dried, froze--you name it! Lol ;)

    Thanks Michelle and Linda!
It's a must try recipe! It lasts in the fridge for awhile if feeding less people. But it's perfect for company and Thanksgiving too! :)

I'm so envious of your apple trees Shona! Nothing beats a fresh picked apple. I've bought apples 2x now at the store and I haven't been Wow'd by either. Neither have that crisp crack when you bite into them.
