Brie and Tomato Pasta

  • Ohiocook 7 years ago
This winter our grocery store has had a ton of fresh basil- which has been such a treat. I made this recipe with grape tomatoes halved. It is so simple and delicious. A little bit of fresh summer pasta in the winter!! We also added extra parmesan cheese on top! Loved it!

This sounds amazing!! I've tried brie once and didn't seem to care for it, but that was forever ago and I don't remember the quality of the brie either. Wonder if my taste buds have changed? Lol. Lucky you on finding fresh basil this time of the year! I just planted some in my garden last week, I can't wait to start using it :)

Great sounding recipe, Ohiocook. The ingredients remind me of caprese salad, something I love! I've never had brie, so don't anything about it.

Mommyluvs, any tips on growing fresh basil indoors? I tried growing it from some fresh basil I bought for a recipe, but it never took. The whole thing turned black and I threw it away :p

The brie melts into a creamy sauce for the pasta. Maybe Boursin cheese instead of Brie? Iv'e never had it ....

Yum! I do love good tomato sauce without oils. I'm going to give this a try.

Cheryl, there is olive oil in it.
Green onion trick? The trick I use.: I put them in a jar on the counter w/ a little water. They keep growing. and last longer. Change the water often.

Beshy, those are the same instructions I found online for growing basil indoors and they didn't work for me. Maybe the weather is still cold enough that my windows leak too much cold air?? Once the weather warms up, I'll buy some more fresh basil at the grocery store. My kitchen is one of the hottest rooms in the house during the summer (and coldest in the winter), so maybe I'll have better luck then. Or maybe not, but I'll give it another go.

Yes Beshy thats how I do it! I cut of the green tops and use them in my dish then put the white stalk in a glass of water and the green part starts growing back! I agree...change the water often, it can get gunky pretty quick :)
