    I make turkey pot pie everytime we have turkey. This one is very close to how I make mine,
    plain and simple just the way I like it.
    I made my own crust, the ones in the store contain butter.
    I used leftover veggies. carrots, turnip, peas, parsnips and potatoes.
    I also added onion, garlic and some finely chopped basil and rosemary.
    I used the potatoes and some gravy as a binder. My edges got a bit darker then I like but it was very tasty.
    Took 35 min. To heat at 350*.
    Great by itself or with a green salad.

    Made for the January Challenge
    January 09/2019.

    Question:::
    Would meatloaf count in this January challenge?

    I've seen meatloaves pressed into pans and baked; so I think if it's in a casserole type dish it would count. Like a shepherds or cottage pie without the potato topping.
    Other types of casserole could be stew type dishes cooked in the oven, like cassoulet or braised meats. Including round dishes like your turkey pot pie, quiches, frittata's etc. Anything baked in an oven in a deep, casserole type pan! :)

    Great photos Manella! I love the design on your pie crust. We are thinking alike. I'm making a pot pie recipe today too. I can't believe I'm trying something other than the recipe I've been using for years but … nothing venture, nothing gained.

    Oh man, we LOVE pot pies!! It looks like yours held together really well when cut! Did you make your own gravy as well?

    Very nice photos, Manella! Looks so yummy, especially with the design on top. It never occurred to me to use gravy for some of the liquid. I'll bet that makes it taste extra good. I'm saving this recipe for future use. I know you freeze your pot pies. Do you bake it first and then freeze?

    Hi DIZ, Thank you, no I don’t bake them first just put them together and wrap them up
    real good. I suppose you could bake them first, but I can’t say how they would turn out,
    The gravy acts as a binder but it really isn’t needed..
