This is a good chocolate martini. There was a time I couldn’t drink something this strong. I guess I’ve matured over the years. lol! I didn’t really pick up a caramel taste. It’s very chocolaty and the Kahlua dominates the flavor. Perhaps using Bailey’s Salted Caramel would be better. In all fairness, this recipe was probably created long before the trendy new flavored alcohols. If you are looking for a sweet chocolate martini, give this one a try. The secret to a good martini is how long you shake it in a shaker full of ice. I stress lots of ice. Don’t rush it! Shake it until it's really cold.

Great photo DIZ! Yes, I can see this one being strong, it's all alcohol, unlike a lot of other recipes that use cream and chocolate syrup. I too would think there would have been something more to bring on the caramel. Maybe next time drizzle the inside of the glass with caramel ice cream topping.

Yuuuum, that sounds good! Great photo Diz! :)
Martini's were my drink of choice back in my 20's. After work the girls and I would go to Moose's Down Under (an Aussie Bar and Grill in Vancouver) for Martini night every Friday. Ahhh, such good memories! :)
I wonder what would make it caramel tasting? Maybe it was missing a drizzle of caramel in the glass or something? I like your idea of the Salted Caramel Baily's, that would be awesome!

Thank you, LindaLMT! When I made this I was thinking chocolate martini all the way. It was only when I posted the review that I saw "caramel" in the name. lol! Good idea to garnish the glass with caramel.

Thank you, Cosmicmother! How cool to go out with the girl's for Martini night. I'll bet you've tried a lot of fun flavored martinis. I can remember when martini bars were wildly popular. Maybe they still are, just not where we currently live. It's only been in recent years and really in the past year or so that I've come to enjoy martinis. They were always too strong for me. Like they say, our tastes change as we get older.
