Espresso brownies

Hate to post a flop, but this was a waste of ingredients. The ingredients list is obviously off. The ingredients came together into dry crumbles not a batter. Not enough wet ingredients but I didn't know how to fix at the time. Proceeded anyway to yield nothing resembling a brownie.
    Bummed.

Lindsay, when I saw the title of your post, I thought oh yum, brownies! Sorry they turned out to be such a flop. I'm no good at "fixing" recipes that don't work for me, either, but I would guess this one needs 2-3 more eggs. It's very similar to my tried and true brownie recipe (only doubled), and my recipe uses 2 eggs. I also use vanilla. Maybe the extra eggs and vanilla would add enough liquid to make this recipe work?? Hopefully, someone who knows about baking science can tell you for sure. Bummer when you had your mouth all set for brownies :p

I hate when recipes don't work out! Bummer Lindsay :(

For that amount fat it needs at least 2 eggs. The egg to fat ratio should be equal in a brownie, so 1/2 cup butter would be 2 eggs.
But for a super fudgy brownie I would use 1 cup butter for that amount flour, and 3-4 eggs! :)

Maybe you can add the dry crumbles to some ice cream? Or is it totally ruined?

Yah me too. Espresso brownies sounded wonderful! Just bought instant espresso and was psyched to use it. I'm going to try again- and this time make lemon pound cake cookies from AR for a contest for allstars. I made that recipe last week and that one flopped too as my lemon flavor had gone bad! Ugh. I'm not giving up! Bought new lemon flavor to try again! Darned it all- I'll get SOMETHING edible baked today!

That's too bad Lindsay, I really can't stand when recipes don't turn out :( It seems like there would be oil or milk in the recipe? I agree with Shona and top ice cream with the crumbles!!
