Lazy Mans Cabbage Rolls

I made this yesterday for supper. It is a very easy recipe, but really lacks seasoning.
Reading the recipe twice as I thought I missed something.
I added salt, pepper and about 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped rosrmary, and two cloves of garlic. I had ground pork out so I used that and used tomatoe soup rather the canned tomatoes.
I have made this before, not this recipe though and used the canned tomatoes. I found that the casserole was runny.
Tasted it half way through baking and added a bit more pepper.
Very easy and tasty, but for me made the way it says it would be very bland.

I gave this 4 stars and tried posting the review on the recipe but for some reason it won’t take. I have had this problem in the past so I’m not sure what happened.

Not to be harsh, but that recipe is extremely vague. It really doesn`t give you any guidelines at all and most certainly there are seasonings missing. :( Your photo does look delicious Manella. I think you`re generous giving it four stars. Hopefully you doctored yours up enough that you enjoyed it.

I agree Chuckieb, the seasoning I added helped a lot. I gave it four stars only because it was easy to put togrther. I should have mentioned that
Yes with the additions it was good, we both liked it. Some recipes are challenging
    aren’t they? This one was.

Nice photo, Manella! This looks like a simple comfort dish. I can see it needing something. It doesn't even call for salt and pepper.

I wonder sometimes in recipes not calling for salt and pepper, if the recipe submitter just thinks it's a given and doesn't need to put it? Anyway, I like your additions, especially using the tomato soup instead of the diced, I could see that being very watery. Nice picture and sounds like a comforting easy meal!!!

Mommyluvs2cook, i think you are right about that, just naturally put it in. Some recipes i know does not use salt if your cooking with Pancetta or salty bacon.Still should be mentioned. The additions helped, otherwise it would be bland.
I do not like saying negative things about any recipe, but sometimes you just do..

It looks great Manella, nice and thick like a stew. :)
I eyed a few similar recipes on here and they don't include much seasoning either. Good call on doctoring it to your tastes. You can always add more, but it's hard to take away so sometimes the simple recipes are better, Lol ;)

Great photo Manella! I love cabbage rolls and would probably like this. I add sauerkraut to the pot when making rolls. I wonder if it would work for this? Hmmmm. Otherwise ingredients are almost the same except I do add some garlic, salt, and pepper. I also make mine with ground pork.
