This is a great idea and really hit the spot on a hot and humid summer day. Much easier than trying to make a California Roll. It didn’t have much flavor and seemed to be missing something. Then it occurred to me that sushi rice is typically seasoned with rice vinegar and sugar. If I were to make it again I would take the time to flavor the rice. I wasn’t thinking at the time, but I have a jar of Nori sprinkles (seaweed) that can be used on salads. It would have made a great addition mixed in with the rice.

What a fun recipe!! I actually have a sushi making kit but have never braved doing it, it intimidates me lol! This looks much easier :D

Hi, Mommyluvs2cook! I also have a sushi making kit and have never used it. I've watched the guys at the sushi bar make it and have gotten some great tips. I even copycatted a sushi "cake" where everything is stacked and layered like a cake. Why bother with any of that when you can do something like this and get the same great flavor combination?

Beautiful picture DIZ and yes! what a great dish for a hot humid summer meal. Healthy too. I did not know sushi rice was seasoned. Thanks for that tid-bit of knowledge.

    Lovely picture Diz! Neat recipe!
I see the recipe submitter lists to season the rice with sugar and vinegar etc..in the directions but didn't list it in the ingredient list. I guess it was missing something like you said Diz! ;) ;)

Thank You, Cosmicmother! Guess who didn't read through the directions? lol! I skimmed it and went, "ok, ok, I get it--place everything separately on a plate."
