Witches' Fingers

*Made for the Halloween/Pumpkin October 2017 Recipe Challenge*

So, as I'm making these and stirring the dry ingredients into the wet, I realized, that it does not say when to add the powdered sugar in the directions! So by that time I just mixed it in last and I was left with a crumbly mixture, not dough at all. I think the sugar was supposed to be added in with the butter, which may have made this come together more. I'm no baking scientist though lol. My daughter suggested adding some milk to make it into a dough consistency and it seemed to work, so I just prayed to the baking God's that they would bake up okay lol. They did! Going into making this I was imagining the fingers would be a dry cookie, but they were soft, moist and delicious!! So happy with them :) Also, the kids decided to add a chocolate chip on some to look like a mole lol. I have to deduct a star for leaving out the sugar in the directions, could have been a total disaster!!

Hey, Mommyluvs2cook! You beat me to these. I was going to make them for the Halloween treat category. Yours are so cute! I know mine would not look like that. Great photo! Too bad they forgot to mention the sugar. I've made these before using this exact same recipe and you do cream the butter, sugar, and eggs. I'm happy everything worked out in the end. How creative to add a chocolate chip mole. So adorable!

Hey DIZ! I can't wait to see yours, I know they will probably look better than ours lol. Mine are a mix of the the kids and my creations, can you guess who made which? NO! I'm a horrible "sculptor" haha. I've made these (or similar) before also a LOONNG time ago...probably on Allrecipes. I think adding green food coloring would make them even more "witch-ey" :)

I think all of the cookies look perfect! :) Makes me want to have a Halloween party. I'll bet it was AR. That's where I found the recipe I use. I had a couple of different Halloween treats in mind. I'm going to put this one on the back burner and make it if I have time. Busy here the next couple of weeks. I'm not doing any cooking of any kind until the end of October.

Good save, Mommyluvs, and great photo! Looking at the other reviews, it looks like you're the only one that actually *made* the recipe and caught the omission. All the others just posted generic comments like, "very cute", etc. and gave it five stars :p Even the recipe submitter posted only to say she put down the wrong number of servings and corrected it.

Beautiful photo Mommyluvstocook, and your baking skills are great. When i worked my boss would make these every Halloween, and all the kids and adults that came in the bank always looked forward to them. She put them in a bowl that made cackling noises when someone took a finger out. Loved it:))))
