How to treat Urine Stains ( pets)

As per request from a friend.

Urine stains should be blotted first with paper towels right away to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. With a sponge, apply a solution of 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 tsp dishwashing soap, and 10 drops of peppermint essential oil: wait 20 minutes as the vinegar and essential oils will help to sanitize the soiled area and remove any odor.

Blot the stained area again using a clean, damp towel.

Note, Vinegar can sometimes slightly bleach dark colored carpets. Test this formula on an inconspicuous area first.

This information I found in a book called The Naturally Clean Home.

Here is a Flea's Be Gone Carpet Treatment- found in the same book.

    2 1/2 cup baking soda

    10 drops sweet orange oil

    10 drops citronella essential oil

    8 drops peppermint essential oil

6 drops lemon or lemon balm essential oil

Vacuum carpet well. Combine all ingredients in a plastic container ( like a clean, used Parmesan cheese shaker container) and sprinkle over carpet. Wait at least one hour before vacuuming again.

It's best to throw out your vacuum bag after this, to prevent re infestation.
