Finally Rain Friday

  • MissouriFarmWife 6 years ago
Last night it rained! Finally! It was long overdue.

Today it should reach 39 F for a high, at least it is above freezing.

Have to read thru yesterday's post. But hello everyone!

We decided to try the new Red Lobster in Columba. It isn't even on the GPS yet! Botch of us had the lobster tail, angostura, sirloin with mashed potatoes and green beans with mushrooms. So good! I guess it was a. Post Valentine's Day dinner....LOL!

Wayne forgot to crate Fritz when we left so he had a great time alone from dawn to dark! Everything seemed untouched....cats unharmed....dog minus scratches....House iin the same number of pieces as when we left.

    Have a good day!

Good Morning Karen! We're at 0C/32F at the moment so again our temps are fairly similar. OOOOOoooooo on your Red Lobster Dinner. Sounds fabulous and indeed, that's a great Post Valentine's Day dinner. That's great the house was in good shape even with Fritz on the loose while you were gone. :)

Gray out today. Haven't decided what we're up to or what I'm going to make for dinner. Watching some ski jumping on the Olympics in front of the fire.

    Finally read through yesterday's post.

Oh dear on the icy step. Although the sight of orange peels flying must have been something ! Glad he was not hurt! Yes, we sometimes use the ice melt also. I prefer just spreading ashes on the path from gate to porch, but the steps need something better. Daughter said to try baking soda .....I don't want us or anyone else hurt from icy steps. but may try it sometime.

Cleaning the house doesn't rank as my favorite activity. Ha ha. But it sure feels good when you finish and see the result. The current joke here is that a sparkling clean house is a sure way to not have unexpected company, and a messy one means someone will decide to drop in. If that is so, we should have lots of visitors today! Ha ha!

SP Janet. Have a good time!
Considering we were gone about 12 hours it is amazing he didn't get into trouble.
Have fun today. I have to attack laundry and at least sweep the living room!

Yum! I would love a Red Lobster dinner right now, Karen. Wonderful Fritz was good for such a long time when you were gone. We use sand when we can and also use ice melt or salt when we have to. It isn't worth breaking something if you don't put anything down. Lol having a sparkling house not to have company:)

    Enjoy watching the Olympics, Janet.

Den is still working on laying the tiles. There are lots of nooks and crannies in that room. Including a clothes closet and two pantries. One for food and one for extra baking pans etc. It is looking really good. It makes the room look bigger and brighter. Den will have a ribeye steak and oven fries and I will have lobster tails with rice and a salad and of course drawn butter as well.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Your dinner plans are great, Joce. I have to freeze meats that we bought and will decide what to fix for dinner afterward.

Fritz and the cats assisted Wayne in cleaned a spilled egg. It fell from the cartoon to the floor! Cats sniffed at it and left. Fritz cleaned the floor. Yes, I will mop the floor! He was happy and I guess the egg is good for him.

It has dropped to 37 F so a cold front must be coming. Sigh.

Good Morning Everyone. Another beautiful bright sunny day here ...

That's great you finally got rain Karen. Any predictions yet if you will have a wet or dry spring? Oh-My on not having Fritz crated but it seems to have worked out. Wouldn't you have loved to be a fly on the wall to see what really went on ... LOL! Happy your dinner out was great.

That's great Den is making such good progress with the room Joce and nothing "unexpected" is needing attention. Both your dinners sound great!

Tonight's the big night for Bri Michelle! Happy Birthday Bri. Hope everyone has a great time.

Don't you wish a nice clean house could stay a nice clean house FOREVER. Ouch on Jim falling on the ice Janet. So lucky he didn't break anything and came up with just a bruised ego.

I love your description Kimmer ... "Peoplely" ... it describes it well. The restaurant looks amazing. So many great choices!

We did try a new restaurant last night ... PrawnBrokers. Mostly seafood. The place is a dump on the outside because it's in an older strip mall but inside was nice and it was bigger than it looked.
Food was great, menu was great, but our server was the pits. She was cold and unfriendly. Not that I expect my server to be my best friend but I don't expect to feel like I'm an annoyance. She took our drink order and then without even getting our drinks asked us if we knew what else we wanted.
I had clams casino which were awesome, DH had a shrimp cocktail that was great. I had a house salad with a homemade dill ranch dressing and DH had a Caesar salad. For dinner I had a shrimp trio (stuffed, grilled, and crushed cornflake dipped and fried) with green beans and a sweet potato ... all very good.
DH had a grilled seafood trio (grilled grouper, scallops, shrimp) with green beans and rice piloff.
Food was great and when we were finished we then sat there ... ready ... for 15 minutes with dirty plates and no waitress. Finally we got up and left, went to the front, and asked someone to get us our check because we were tired of sitting there waiting for our waitress. She appears with the check and an attitude, I paid, and didn't bother to leave a tip. And this isn't done ... I plan to contact someone much higher up. It's privately owned and whoever owns it also owns a few other restaurants in the area too but the other is a grill and the other is Italian.

Good luck with your laundry Karen.

Good job Den! It sounds really nice Joce. OOOOoooo yum on both your dinners. Enjoy.

Hi Linda! Too bad about the bad server. Your meals sounded fantastic though. Don't blame you for not leaving a tip and indeed you should alert the manager or owner.

    Happy Birthday Bri.

Bummer on your server last night, Linda:( I would not have tipped her either. Glad you enjoyed your food so much though. Lol, you never know maybe she is the owner's wife?

Yes, a Very Happy 13th birthday to Bri.

WE'RE SOOOO FULL! Jim has been craving "The Lone Star" Fajitas lately and even though I was just there last Fri. (mind you I had a hamburger), I agreed to go again. We ordered our standard Frozen Margueritas and Fajitas. Which is hilarious because we've already planned to make Fajitas for our guests on Sunday for dinner. Ah well...a craving, is a craving, is a craving. :) It was all most delicious and our waitress was top notch marvelous. She could have shown your server a thing or two for sure Linda. :)

Got more groceries and some libations for the weekend. Bought some salt for the interlock so our guests don't wipe out. The sun is out. Just gorgeous.

The waitress sounds terrible, Linda. What happened to customer service? Our waitress was dromedary Billings Montana, she and her youngest child moved down to help her mother. The older one is either in college or working....she is an adult.

Fajitas are so good....not many places can ruin them and there are reastaurants that specialize in great tasting ones. One of my favorites! Wayne will eat them if he can go easy on the onions and peppers.

I fought AR to sign in it refused my pw and it was next to impossible to finally sign in. My avatar was even showing so they had to have known it was me! I hope GR stays afloat.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Wow, on Fritz being free all day and not getting into any trouble. Good boy!! Too bad on the server Linda. Hate when that happens. My Grandmother, back in the day, would leave a single penny as a tip if service was bad, lol! Maybe back then that meant something. Nice on the lobster tails Joce! Yum on Fajitas. Now I'm craving both!!

Just going to piece around tonight as far as dinner goes. Have some shrimp in the freezer so might cook some of that up over spaghetti if we get really hungry. But have plenty of munchies too, so will see.

Glad the work week is done. Tired, but a good tired.

    Hope all enjoy their evening.

The Lone Star restaurants specialize in Fajitas and actually cook their chicken and beef over mesquite wood that they must bring in from the States! They also have a tortilla making machine right out on the dining room floor so you can see the fajitas torts being made. Everything is super fresh. Jim and I have eaten there SO many times I can't even think of how many it actually it has been over the years! They bring the meat, onions and peppers to you on a hot, hot, hot cast iron fajita pan and the torts are in an insulated container and then the sides, rice, guac, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese and shredded lettuce is set separately beside. It is heaven. :) Sorry to hear you had a hard time signing in to AR. Weird?

Glad your week is done Kimmer and hope you get some R&R in over the weekend.

I just decorated my dining room table for dinner tomorrow. I'm doing a Chinese New Year night. :)

We don't have a Lone Star here Janet. But it seems like years and years ago when I first moved to Florida there was one that I went to once in St. Pete. Could have the name wrong (going back to the early 80's here) but remember they always had a huge steak challenge. Can't remember the amount of beef but if you ate it all you got a prize of some sort. Where's Tina when I need her, lol. She would know if there ever was one here! Our best place for fajitas here is Chili's. https://www.chilis.com/menu/fajitas Daughter loves them, as do I, and is one of my grandson's favorite places to go. Always give her gift cards at Christmas.

Our Lone Star restaurants are called "Lone Star Texas Grill". In 1986 two ex- football players who had played in the CFL, Val Belcher (from Houston) and Larry Brune opened the first restaurant here in Ottawa. It evolved into a franchise business throughout Ontario but then Belcher resigned from it in 2005 and then he died in 2010. There's now 22 "Lone Star Texas Grills" in Ontario.

I think of Tina from time to time too when I come across a recipe of hers or something I knew she loved or hated. :) Saw a pic of Liv today on FB. She looks good. Thank heavens she has Scotty as she must feel pretty lonely. :(
