Happy Mothers Day!

    Good Morning Everyone!
Wishing all the Moms a Happy Mothers Day!
It is another beautiful sunny day here. Wow! On all the construction going on at your place, Karen. I know it will be an inconvenience for a while but when it is finished you will be very pleased with the results.
You had a stroke of luck getting your plants right off the truck, Janet. I had to pick up some things from my seamstress yesterday and after that, I checked a few garden centers out. Most of the hanging baskets were gone. Probably for Mothers Day. I bought a Dianthus, Phlox and a Blue Hydrangea. I didn't see much else I wanted. Hopefully, more things will be coming soon.
I woke up at 4:00 A.M. and couldn't get back to sleep which is why I am starting the thread so early. The kid will probably drop by this afternoon with a hanging basket of flowers for me. More than likely we will have pork chops for dinner. At least that is what I am thinking at the moment but that can change. In answer to your question, Linda. I just stir fry the shrimp with veggies and then serve it with rice. I am in need of another coffee.

    Wishing Everyone A Pleasant Day!

Good Morning Joce and Happy Mother's Day to you! Nice on your plant purchases yesterday. I never buy hanging planters because I always kill them. LOL. A friend of mine gave me a Hydrangea that has come up the last few years but this year I'm not so sure it's going to. I think I mentioned that Jim's fit bit monitors his sleep patterns and last night it seems he had quite a restless sleep although he didn't actually notice it himself. Ugh at waking up at 4 a.m. :( Enjoy your visit with the kids. Yum on pork chops for dinner. In Taiwan I had Braised cabbage a couple of times and just loved it. Once it was cooked with sakura shrimp (weeny teeny perhaps dried ones?) and the other time with bacon. Both were fabulous and I really want to try replicate it. Your stir fry with shrimp and veggies made me think of it. :)

Oh dear on the Texas Roadhouse not being very good Linda.

Wow on 90F temps Karen! How did you prepare the Duck meal? We have three nice duck breasts frozen downstairs but haven't figured out what to do with them yet. Did Wayne manage to fix the printer?

Benjamin is going to have a Skype call with us this morning and then Jim is taking me out for a Mother's Day Brunch at the Swan at Carp restaurant. I've decided since we did so much running around yesterday, I don't feel like romping around to garden centers with it being busy for Mother's Day today. Instead we'll come home and I can putter. We'll go out for plants next week.

Tomorrow I am having my girlfriend and her daughter out for lunch and a hot tub. They want to see the video from our Taiwan trip. I'm going to do an Asian themed lunch and want to do a bit of prep for it today. I think we're going to have to start up the bar fridge downstairs though as I can't fit anymore in to my main one.

We're going to make Cedar Planked salmon and sauteed asparagus for dinner this evening. We have some nice wine to go with it. Picked up some bubbly to do Mimosas this morning but am thinking we won't really have time. We shall see. :)

Wishing everyone a wonderful Mother's Day!

Good Moring Everyone and Happy Mother's Day to All of you special and wonderful MOMS!

Oh my Joce on getting up so early. Hope it doesn't catch up with you later. I have more problems falling asleep now than with getting up too early. Sounds like you got some nice plants yesterday. I'm sure more and more plants will be coming in to the garden centers too.

Smart to just enjoy brunch out today Janet and wait for another day to shop. Have a great call with Benj. I'm sure your lunch tomorrow will be great. Have you concluded what you'll be making?

Not much going on here. Still overcast and I really wish it would rain. Going to thaw 1/2 chicken tonight for dinner and roast that with some side yet to be determined.
I'm almost finished reading Ken Follett's "A Column of FIre" and I just loved it!! Usually when you read a book series something disappoints but this book (3rd in the series) was equally as good as the 1st and 2nd. It's going to be hard to find something else to read next that will measure up.

We had a really nice long rain shower, a good ground soaking and much needed. There was even a gentle roll of thunder. The kind of weather that makes you want to snuggle up on the couch and take a nap ... Ahhh.

Hi Linda! Yes, for lunch tomorrow I'm going to serve Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup, a chicken wing recipe out of the Vietnamese Street Food cookbook Benjamin gave me, some Edamame spiced up with hot chili peppers and garlic and some of the dumplings I made last week. I also came across a fun cocktail with Lemoncello and Vodka that is served with a stem of lemongrass that I think will be fun. :) Nice that you are enjoying "Column of Fire". That series is an awesome one. Yay on the nice spring rain.

We had a super nice brunch out although the poached eggs in the benedict (served with smoked salmon) were rock hard which was disappointing and the roast beef was too well done for my liking. The gravy for the roast beef was amazing though and tasted 'smoked'. They had the usual fare of scrambled eggs, a charcuterie plate, pickles, bacon, sausages, some sort of seafood dish and a chicken one, waffles and then a chocolate fondue with fresh fruit on the dessert table, a big bowl of fruit salad and a fabulous trifle thing with chocolate mousse and all manner of berries. YUM.

Home and got a call from Jim's cousin and family from Montreal who were so sweet and fun to talk with and then cleaned up my kitchen and called my Mom. I've got the broth for the soup simmering and about to go hunt for chicken wings in the freezer.

Worked hard on prepping my lunch tomorrow but had loads of fun. Jim was outside doing yard work and sprucing up the place. Stopped around 5:30 for a Marguerita on the side patio followed by a Hot Tub. Jim grilled the Cedar planked salmon on the BBQ and I did the asparagus in the kitchen. Very yummy. It was a lovely day.
